MARIANNE COURTENAY

Marianne Courtenay studied design at the National Art School, Sydney, Australia. She paints and makes sculptural assemblages but is best known as a printmaker specialising in limited edition collographs, woodblocks and more recently, computer-based prints. Her work is held in public, corporate and private collections in Australia and in private collections in the United States, the UK, Japan and France.

'Over the past decade my work has been particularly concerned with the relationship between the observer and the natural world, the passage of time and how we see and don't see things according to our knowledge, expectations, understanding and cultural filters.'

Marianne currently teaches on a part-time basis with the NSW Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Illawarra Institute. Subject to workload she also takes workshops elsewhere and occassionally in her own studio outside Braidwood, NSW.
