MARIANNE COURTENAY

Marianne Courtenay studied design at the National Art School, Sydney, Australia. She paints and makes sculptural assemblages but is best known as a printmaker specialising in limited edition collagraphs, woodblocks and more recently, computer-based prints. Her work is held in public, corporate and private collections in Australia and in private collections in the United States, the UK, Japan and France.

'Over the past decade my work has been particularly concerned with the relationship between the observer and the natural world, the passage of time and how we see and don't see things according to our knowledge, expectations, understanding and cultural filters.'

Marianne is also an experienced and popular teacher and gives workshops at Coromandel Studios and elsewhere in drawing, composition and a range of printmaking techniques. Coromandel Studios is in idyllic bush-land 20 km from the heritage town of Braidwood. It is an hour and 20 minutes from Canberra and three and a half hours from Sydney.
