PRINTS: TOUS LES OISEAUX DE LA FORÊT
These small collagraph prints form part of a group of works 'Tous les Oiseaux de la Forêt ' inspired by the great medieval tapestries of France. I am fascinated by the textural richness of the tapestries, their colours, detail and their celebration of an idealised natural world which acts as a backdrop for the activities of the human subjects. I have tried in these works to capture this depth and richness of detail while retaining in the embossed quality of the print some of the handmade 'feel' of the tapestries themselves.
