WORKSHOPSMarianne Courtenay offers a range of workshops in her own studio and elsewhere in association with regional art groups and similar organisations. In a friendly and informal context participants explore and develop creative skills suitable for the home studio. Most workshops are designed as two day blocks with, where possible, an orientation and introductory session on the evening before. Typically they are held over weekends. In the relief printmaking workshops in particular the emphasis is low-level technology and hand-printing, although in most cases presses can be used, and a portable press is provided where necessary for printmaking workshops away from the studio. Longer and individualised programs can be arranged for particular groups. Workshops are limited to 4 participants at the studio and usually a maximum of 10 elsewhere. Marianne has over 30 years experience in art education and teaching. She teaches on a casual basis for the Illawarra Institute of TAFE and is a popular guest lecturer and workshop leader with a reputation for bringing out the best in participants. Coromandel Studios is in idyllic bushland 20 minutes from the heritage town of Braidwood. It is an hour and 20 minutes from Canberra and three and a half hours from Sydney. Braidwood offers a range of accommodation options including a boutique hotel, a number of excellent bed and breakfast establishments and motels. It also has a good choice of restaurants and cafes. Marianne usually also runs a number of workshops each year at The Silken Tent in Braidwood. This is a spacious workshop well suited to larger groups of 5 to 10. Drawing materials, printing ink and a selection of tools are provided in all workshops but participants are encouraged to have their own materials where possible. Essential items, including printing papers are also available for purchase at workshops. TUTOR'S FEE |
